Hurra! Also doch Wolle für mich. 1 Kilo schottische Wolle!

A crowdfunding-project caught my attention a while ago: Joan tried to raise money for buying a wool twister. She lives on one of the islands of the Outer Hebrides in Scotland and it’s very difficult there to make a living.

I liked the way she wanted to improve their local wool “industry” and  so I pledged some money. Due to some chaos the crowdfunding-platform caused and the massive pledges, e-mails and messages from all over the world Joan (who is in charge of that project) was overwhelmed and took some time to sort everything out. Unfortunately it turned out that she hasn’t raised enough money to buy the machine now but she is still collecting some money and will buy the wool twister hopefully by the end of this year.

Due to all this chaos I never thought I’d see the wool I pledged for but it was okay for me. I thought if she was able to buy that machine in the end I’d be fine with it as I helped a tiny tiny bit with it. But then I got a really nice e-mail from Joan and she promised me to send the wool the next days.

I don’t know what it is but receiving something via Royal Mail feels always like gambling… Either you receive it within two or three days or it will take several weeks or even months. And I’ll guess it: I had to wait. And wait. And…

Finally I missed the postman as we had to keep an appointment. I could see his car driving towards our house… So again I had to wait – until Monday. And then finally! The wool was there!

Ich habe das Päckchen also ganz vorsichtig aufgeschnitten…

I cut the parcel open – very carefully…

And I couldn’t believe it – but there they were: Two cones of lovely green wool! At first it seems to have one beautiful rich tone of green but if you look closer there are different shades of green and even blue in it. It makes a great heathered wool.
