Woll-Abo Januar/ Yarn-subscription January

Hier liegt noch so einiges, was ich dir zeigen möchte. Allein das Wetter spielt nicht mit.
Es ist seit Wochen einfach nur Schietwetter. Von ‘Friederike’, die auch hier in der Gegend etliches zerstört hat, möchte ich gar nicht anfangen. Wenigstens haben wir den Sturm unbeschadet überstanden.
Heute habe ich ein bisschen Zeit zwischen Feierabend und dem nächsten Termin und trotz des immer noch ekelig grauen Himmels hatte ich keine Lust mehr zu warten.

I have so many things I’d like to show you but the weather keeps me away from making decent photos.
We have such a bad weather since weeks and even survived one of the worst storms since years (‘Friederike’). It went over UK as well and it left destruction and even death.
Today is fortunately a bit more quiet and I have got some time between the end of the work day and my next appointment. The light is still too bad to take photos but I managed to take some smartphone-photos.

Wie du dich vielleicht erinnerst, habe ich für 2018 mein eigenes Woll-Abo angelegt. Die erste Überraschung gab es dann, als ich das erste Päckchen auspacken durfte: An die Wolle konnte ich mich erinnern, aber die Anleitung?

Maybe you remember the self-made ‘yarn-subscription’? It’s only January but I got the first surprise when I opened the first packet: I remembered the yarn but what about THAT pattern?

Aber bange machen gilt nicht; also Rundnadel und Zopfnadel (aka Nadelspiel-Nadel) gezückt und mich am 06.01.2018 auf ins Land der unendlichen Verzopfungen gemacht.
Bei den ersten Zöpfen habe ich noch gedacht, dass ich mir das nie im Leben merken kann. Jetzt bei Handschuh Nummer 2 klappt es schon gut. Teilweise muss ich nur einmal kurz auf die passende Reihe schauen.

But no need to be afraid! I picket up circular needle and a cable needle (aka one simple double pointed needle) and casted on.
I didn’t imagine to remember the pattern when I made the first couple of cables but I am currently working on the 2nd mitten and I get along just fine.

Der erste Handschuh trägt sich schonmal ungewohnt aber komfortabel.
Bis zum Ende des Januars werde ich bestimmt nicht fertig, aber das macht ja nichts.

The first mitten looks very odd but it’s comfy to wear it.
I don’t think I’ll finish the 2nd one by the end of this month but that doesn’t matter. Winter is coming back soon enough.

  • Muster/ pattern: Glitten
  • Wolle/ yarn: Finkhof Sockenwolle fein (8-fädig), S8 petrol
  • Nadelstärke/ needle size: 2,5 mm/ 1 1/2

Projekt Kleiderschrank Bedarf/ Project Wardrobe requirements

Eigentlich ist es schon zu spät, aber ich sende dir trotzdem noch ein frohes neues Jahr!
Ich wollte mich viel früher melden, nur ist mir da das Leben inklusive eines neuen Hobbies dazwischengekommen. Von dem Hobby berichte ich bei Gelegenheit noch ausführlicher  – das dazwischengekommene Leben ist zu langweilig um ausgiebiger darüber zu berichten. – Okay, hier die Kurzfassung: Krank. Viel Arbeit. Müde. – Fertig. 😉

Mittlerweile habe ich einen groben Plan, von allem was in meinem Kleiderschrank fehlt:

  • Stricksocken
  • Dunkle Jeans
  • Dunkle Stoffhose
  • Wintermantel
  • Blazer, bevorzugt in einem dunklen Grau
  • Strickjacken in neutralen Farben
  • Langarmshirts
  • T-Shirts/ Tops fürs Büro
  • Handschuhe
  • Mützen

Alles, was mir möglich ist, werde ich davon selber fertigen. Ich denke da vor allem an die Sachen, die ich stricken kann, sicherlich aber auch an die eine oder andere Näh-Herausforderung.

Farblich bleibe ich weiterhin bei den kühlen Tönen:

  • Anthrazit (schwarz wirkt meistens zu hart)
  • Grau
  • Blautöne (vor allem Richtung Petrol)
  • Grüntöne (blaugrüne Töne)

Well it’s already too late for this but I send you a Happy New Year nevertheless.
I planned to write this directly when the new year started but the usual things in life and a new hobby happened.  I’ll write more about the hobby soon and there isn’t much to tell about the rest. Here is the short version: Sickness. Tons of work.
Tired. – That’s it. 😉

Meanwhile I made a plan about what I’m going to need for my wardrobe:

  • Knitted socks
  • Jeans (dark colours… black or charcoal)
  • Cloth slacks for the office (again dark colours)
  • Coat
  • Blazer (preferably in a dark-ish grey)
  • Cardigans
  • Shirts with long sleeves
  • T-Shirts/ Tops for the office
  • Mitten/ gloves
  • Caps/ beanies/…

I’ll make as many clothes as possible. I think mainly about knitting things but I’ll of course challenge myself with sewing too (if doable).

I won’t change the main colours of my current clothings:

  • Charcoal for overgarments (as black is often too much of a contrast)
  • Grey
  • Shades of blue (mainly teal)
  • Shades of green (mainly blueish greens
