WIP: O Tannenbaum…/ O Christmas tree…

Earlier this month I ordered some yarn for a dress. This time I was looking for yarn with a more natural structure plus I wanted to support ‘local’ shepherds. There are some who do direct marketing and I was thinking about ordering from these cooperatives:

After I considered their offers I decided to order some ‘thin Merino’ from Finkhof. I already used the heavier weight yarn from them for my coat ‘Adventurous‘. I think it’s important to mention that German Merino doesn’t equal the Merino you are used to. It comes from a breed that is also known as (roughly translated) ‘Merino country sheep’. Broadly speaking are these sheeps whose ancestors Merinos were interbreed with local German breeds. The wool isn’t as soft as Merino from Australia or New Zealand but on the other hand, you won’t have problems with mulesing. The yarn is a bit rough and keeps it’s form way better than pure breed Merino. I’d compare it roughly to BFL-yarn.

I’m pretty sure that you’d like to know what I’m going to make with the ordered yarn – and that’s where I bring the Christmas tree into play. I ordered a dark-ish but rich green and if you imagine a whole dress out of it… well, here comes the Christmas tree! 🙂

I use the pattern ‘Still light tunic‘ from Joji Locatelli. It’s a pattern for a tunic but I’m planning to simply lengthen it to a dress. Here comes a really bad photo I took some minutes ago with my phone:
